This summer the Pathway into History sign project along the north side of the Arkansas River was completed. The Pleasant Valley Club of Howard had a program on September 27 in the Howard Hall dedicating this GARNA project to Carolee Schrader, an area native, who conceived the idea in 2002. Sadly, she died of cancer before she could see the project come to fruition.
Exact duplicates of these twelve beautiful Pathway into History signs, however, are now available for viewing by the public in the upstairs conference room of the Howard Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD). It is open 24 hours a day. The HVFD would like the public to know, however, that the upstairs conference room is not wheelchair-accessible yet but plans are in progress to make this come about.
The public is welcome to come and view this extraordinary collection of local history and beautiful photographs.
