Logic:

In the scriptures we find a difference in the way the Hebrew mind viewed things compared to the way the Greek, Roman and even ourselves relate to God.  Hebrews used something called block logic.  That is, how concepts were expressed in self-contained units or blocks of thoughts.  These blocks did not necessarily fit together in any obvious rational or harmonious pattern.  Now Greek logic, which has influenced the Western world, was different.  The Greek used step logic which means each step ot thought linked tightly to the next creating a coherent, rational, logical thought.  Consider Jeremiah when God instructed him to purchase land in a seemingly inopportune time.  The country was about to be invaded and he was about to be taken into captivity, how wise do you think that investment would be?  But God had a good reason for having Jeremiah make such a purchase.  It was to be a testimony and a promise that God was going to restore the Jews to their lands. (Jer 32:15 "For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in the land."  Hebrews made decisions based on obedience.  Greeks, Romans and Westerners often make decisions based on logic and reason.  If the early church made decisions based on a pro and con method, there would have been no miracles in the Bible. i.e, such as getting the coin from the fish's mouth, walking around the walls of Jericho to take the city, Peter walking on the water, etc.  We are not to question God's instructions but we do when it comes to church membership, church attendance, baptism, bible study, and prayer.  God's Word is not subject to our logic, feelings or experiences we are simply to obey.
