However, all donations will be split between WFHS and the Howard Hall.

Sat. May 15th, 2010, 8am -11am At the Howard, CO Cemetery on CR 45.

Paul Chastain was Surprised for his 80th Birthday, with a party that was held at the Howard Hall Sunday April 6th. 2009. Home made Ice cream, cake, coffee, tea and punch was enjoyed by all who attended.

BENEFIT DINNER A SUCCESS

It was proven on February 7th that the people of Howard and all the surrounding area have very generous hearts.  The benefit for Norm Longshaw and family, of Howard was attended by over 300 people.    We would like to thank the following businesses.  The Howard Volunteer Fire Department for providing their building and kitchen facilities.  Old Smokey’s Fire Wagon (Jim & Dawn Donner) for the food preparation.  Burmacs, Wal-Mart & McDonalds who gave donations of food and orange drink.   The Cotopaxi School District; Tina Workman & Julie Canterbury for the use of the kitchen in making the cakes for the dessert table.

The bake sale portion of the event was a success thanks to the Krafty Kritters from Deer Mountain, Pleasant Valley Get Together Club and to the many others who donated baked items.

Howard Chili Cook-Off, held June 7-8, 2008 was a great success. Many spectators enjoyed the green chili on Saturday and the red chili on Sunday. Vendors from various parts of Colorado sold their wares.

Pleasant Valley Carving Club. (newly formed in March 2008)
It is an informal meeting of people with an interest in woodcarving.  Some members are accomplished carvers, others are just getting started.  We are all there to learn from one another.  Meetings are currently being held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6PM-8PM at the home of Bill Tunstall.

Local US Air Force man dies in Afghanistan--- U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Randy J. Gillespie, 44, of Coaldale, Colo., died July 9, 2007 in Herat, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered during small arms fire outside of Camp Stone. He was assigned to the 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Luke Air Force Base, Ariz. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. TANKER ROLLOVER--- On Sunday, May 27th, 07, there was a Butane Tanker that rolled over on HWY 50 between Swissvale & Wellsville, at the Box Canyon Road. This had the Hwy closed in both directions for about 20 hours while hazmat was called in to help to get the accident cleaned up.
